Lara Trump on Thursday appeared to deny reports that former President Donald Trump has been telling allies he expects to be reinstalled in the White House in a matter of months, as her father-in-law continues to promote his false election fraud claims and former administration officials have mused publicly about a coup attempt.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs far as I know, there are no plans for Donald Trump to be in the White House in August. Maybe there\u2019s something I don\u2019t know,\u201d Lara Trump told <\/a>\u201c<\/a>Fox & Friends\u201d<\/a> in an interview. <\/p>\n \u201cBut no, I think that that is a lot of folks getting a little worked up about something just because maybe there wasn\u2019t enough pushback, you know, from the Republican side,\u201d she said. \u201cSo no, I have not heard any plans for Donald Trump to be installed in the White House in August.\u201d<\/p>\n The New York Times\u2019 Maggie Haberman first reported<\/a> Tuesday that Donald Trump \u201chas been telling a number of people he\u2019s in contact with that he expects he will get reinstated by August.\u201d Lara Trump \u2014 who is married to Donald Trump\u2019s second-eldest son, Eric \u2014 is perhaps the most high-profile member of the former president\u2019s orbit to weigh in on the Times\u2019 report.<\/p>\n Her remarks on Thursday come amid growing anxiety among Democrats and some Republicans about Trump supporters\u2019 ongoing efforts to relitigate and ultimately reverse the 2020 White House race, including a partisan audit<\/a> of the Arizona election results that has attracted national attention.<\/p>\n On Sunday, former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn appeared to endorse<\/a> the idea of a coup in the U.S. similar to the one that took place in Myanmar<\/a> in February. Flynn, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant general, has since sought to walk back<\/a> his suggestion, and the military announced on Wednesday it would not investigate him<\/a> for the statements. <\/p>\n Meanwhile, a handful of Republicans who championed Trump\u2019s efforts to overturn the 2020 election are running to become the top election officials<\/a> in key swing states, opening up the possibility that \u2014 if elected \u2014 they could refuse to certify a potential 2024 Democratic presidential win in those battlegrounds.<\/p>\n According to a Quinnipiac University poll<\/a> released last week, 66 percent of Republicans surveyed said they believed President Joe Biden\u2019s victory last November was illegitimate. <\/p>\n Lara Trump served as a senior adviser to Trump\u2019s reelection campaign and is now floating a possible Senate run<\/a> in North Carolina to replace retiring Republican Sen. Richard Burr. Both Lara Trump and Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization, spoke at the \u201cStop the Steal\u201d rally<\/a> outside the White House on Jan. 6 that preceded Trump supporters\u2019 deadly siege of the Capitol. <\/p>\n At that event, Lara Trump told the crowd that her family was \u201cin this fight to the bitter end,\u201d while Eric Trump urged attendees to march on the Capitol and \u201cstand up for what\u2019s right.\u201d<\/p>\n
