Lara Trump is stepping down as co-chair of the Republican National Committee, a role she has held since March, as some of Donald Trump\u2019s allies continue to push for her to replace Florida Sen. Marco Rubio on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n
In announcing her resignation on X, Lara Trump, who is the president-elect\u2019s daughter-in-law, said \u201cthe job I came to do is now complete,\u201d touting the RNC\u2019s fundraising records, election integrity efforts and voter turnout.<\/p>\n
She\u2019s expressed openness to replacing Rubio, the president-elect\u2019s pick to be secretary of State, in the Senate, telling The Associated Press it\u2019s a role she \u201cwould seriously consider.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I\u2019m being completely transparent, I don\u2019t know exactly what that would look like,\u201d she told the AP in an article published Sunday<\/a>. \u201cAnd I certainly want to get all of the information possible if that is something that\u2019s real for me. But yeah, I would 100% consider it.\u201d<\/p>\n Among those supporting her as a potential Rubio replacement is billionaire Elon Musk, a close ally of the incoming president, and his mother, Maye Musk.<\/p>\n But as much as allies of the president-elect push for her to replace Rubio, the decision will ultimately fall on Florida Gov. Ron DeSanis.<\/p>\n
