President Donald Trump took steps Friday to bar his predecessor from accessing sensitive national security information with an order he readily admitted was payback. <\/p>\n
Trump said former President Joe Biden would no longer receive classified intelligence briefings that were customary for former presidents \u2014 until Biden halted Trump’s access after the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol. <\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information,\u201d Trump wrote on Truth Social. \u201cHe set this precedent in 2021, when he instructed the Intelligence Community (IC) to stop the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from accessing details on National Security, a courtesy provided to former Presidents.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump also cited special counsel Robert Hur\u2019s 2024 report into Biden\u2019s handling of classified documents<\/a> in which he concluded that the president had a \u201cpoor memory\u201d though criminal charges were not warranted. <\/p>\n \u201cThe Hur Report revealed that Biden suffers from \u2018poor memory\u2019 and, even in his \u2018prime,\u2019 could not be trusted with sensitive information. I will always protect our National Security \u2014 JOE, YOU\u2019RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!\u201d <\/p>\n Biden, shortly after his inauguration, barred Trump from receiving the daily briefings, saying he could not be trusted<\/a> because of his \u201cerratic behavior\u201d and because they were unnecessary. <\/p>\n A spokesperson for Biden had no immediate comment. <\/p>\n
