Mark Cuban, the billionaire business mogul and \u201cShark Tank\u201d star, quashed speculation he will be making a White House run in 2028 \u2014 even as he has become a prominent voice against Donald Trump’s agenda in Washington.<\/p>\n
The Dallas Mavericks minority owner was asked if his name would be on a ballot in the near future at the Principles First convention, a gathering of conservatives who feel politically homeless in Trump’s MAGA-fied version of the party.<\/p>\n
\u201cHell no. It’s not going to happen,\u201d Cuban said, before joking to the crowd gathered at the JW Marriott in Washington, D.C., roughly three blocks from the White House, then quipped: “Okay, if y’all write in and I don’t have [a campaign].\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, I don’t want to be President. I’d rather fuck up health care,\u201d a nod to the Cost Plus drug company he recently launched.<\/p>\n
Cuban has teased a presidential run in the past, exploring running as an Independent in 2020 and hiring a pollster<\/a> to assess his prospects. He ultimately decided against it and threw his support behind Joe Biden. Some recent polling has even included his name in a list of 2028 candidates<\/a> that had him notching some support in a crowded field.<\/p>\n Cuban served as a surrogate for Vice President Kamala Harris\u2019 presidential campaign and stumped for her in key swing states like Nevada and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, it’s kind of fun, actually,\u201d Cuban said. \u201cI learned that the Democrats can\u2019t sell shit.\u201d<\/p>\n He later added that if Democrats want to learn how to sell their ideas to the American public, they should look to Trump as an example.<\/p>\n \u201cIt doesn’t mean \u2026 he can execute on that,\u201d Cuban added. \u201cRight now, he’s still in the salesmanship stage, and I think now people are starting to ask, alright, it’s great to sell it now, can you execute on it.\u201d<\/p>\n Cuban doesn\u2019t believe Trump will actually deliver on his litany of campaign promises, and that should be a boon for Democrats \u2014 if they can effectively make the case. He criticized Democrats for being \u201ctoo reflexive\u201d to Trump\u2019s whims \u2014 a tactic they tried in 2024 when Harris emphasized Trump as a threat to democracy.<\/p>\n \u201cI think there’s too much reflexology. ‘Trump sucks,’\u201d Cuban said. \u201cHow’d that work in the campaign? It didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n
