However, more than half of that was for OpenAI, which closed a $40 billion funding round led by SoftBank on March 31.<br \/>\nOther notable AI funding rounds in March included Anthropic, which raised $3.5 billion in a Series E round.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cThe fear of somebody else winning your market has never been higher than it is now,\u201d said Maria Palma, general partner at Freestyle Capital. \u201cYou haven\u2019t seen a slowdown because the rate of change on the technology side is almost indigestible,\u201d she added.\u00a0<br \/>\nNnamdi Okike, co-founder and managing partner at 645 Ventures, cautioned that there are extremes happening, \u201cand that\u2019s going to mean there\u2019s going to be a lot of losers.\u201d\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cA lot of VC funds are just kind of saying, \u2018Hey, this can only go up.\u2019 And that\u2019s usually a recipe for failure \u2014 when that starts to happen, you\u2019re becoming detached from reality,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>AI deals as a share of all global VC deal activity.
