{"id":129680,"date":"2025-05-21T07:15:29","date_gmt":"2025-05-21T07:15:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cryptospotters.net\/?p=129680"},"modified":"2025-05-21T07:15:29","modified_gmt":"2025-05-21T07:15:29","slug":"sec-delays-decision-on-ether-staking-and-xrp-etfs-as-analysts-expected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cryptospotters.net\/?p=129680","title":{"rendered":"SEC delays decision on Ether staking and XRP ETFs, as analysts expected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Source: Cointelegraph.com NewsThe US Securities and Exchange Commission has delayed its decision on Bitwise\u2019s application to add staking to its Ether exchange-traded fund and on Grayscale\u2019s XRP ETF bid, which analysts had expected.<br \/>\nThe SEC said on May 20 that it needed to extend its decision on Bitwise\u2019s application by 45 days to \u201cconsider the proposed rule change and the issues raised therein.\u201d The agency needed to either decide or punt its decision by May 22.<br \/>\nThe agency also delayed deciding on Grayscale\u2019s XRP (XRP) tracking ETF and Bitwise\u2019s Solana (SOL) tracking fund while it seeks public comments and begins \u201cproceedings to allow for additional analysis\u201d of the proposals to ensure they meet regulatory standards.<br \/>\nBloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart said on X that both delays were expected because the SEC \u201ctypically takes the full time to respond to a 19b-4 filing.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cAlmost all of these filings have final due dates in October,\u201d and an early decision would be \u201cout of the norm,\u201d Seyffart added.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cNo matter how Crypto-friendly this SEC is. There\u2019s no conspiracy here,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nSource: James SeyffartSeyffart said delays on other spot crypto ETF bids are also expected, and the SEC is likely to delay deciding on Litecoin (LTC) ETFs too.<br \/>\nHowever, he added, &#8220;Litecoin is one that has a higher likelihood vs others of getting approved first.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cA bunch of XRP ETPs have dates in [the] next few days. If we\u2019re gonna see early approvals from the SEC on any of these assets, I wouldn\u2019t expect to see them until late June or early July at the absolute earliest. More likely to be in early 4Q,\u201d Seyffart said.<br \/>\nSEC dealing with flood of ETF filings\u00a0<br \/>\nSeveral other crypto ETF applications are approaching SEC deadlines in June.
