Source: CointelegraphRelated: SEC acknowledges slew of crypto ETF filings as reviews, approvals accelerate<br \/>\nChanging regulatory stance<br \/>\nUnder the previous US presidential administration, the SEC brought enforcement actions against several crypto firms for offering staking services it alleged were unregistered securities offerings.<br \/>\nSince President Donald Trump took office in January, the SEC has softened its stance.<br \/>\nIn February, the agency issued guidance stating that memecoins\u00a0do not qualify as investment contracts\u00a0under US law.\u00a0<br \/>\nIn April, the regulator clarified that stablecoins also do not qualify as securities if they are marketed\u00a0solely as a means of making payments.<br \/>\nStill, the agency has yet to approve staking in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) or issue formal guidance on how staking services can be offered compliantly in the US.<br \/>\nOther policy goals<br \/>\nMuehr said she is optimistic the SEC will eventually approve staking for cryptocurrency ETFs, including for proposed Solana (SOL) funds.<br \/>\n\u201cGetting there means first getting the SEC comfortable with the structure,\u201d she said, noting the industry has recently had \u201csome productive meetings with the agency.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019m hopeful we\u2019ll see a Solana ETF and even a staked Solana ETF in the US sometime soon.\u201d<br \/>\nThe SEC is not the only agency the crypto industry is looking to persuade.
