Lindsey Graham in South Carolina, joining an increasingly crowded field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we\u2019ve done with Project 2025 is really change the game in terms of closing the door on the progressive era,\u201d Dans <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/dans-project-2025-graham-south-carolina-senate-781a780ee4cd701d0b1d52d19e7a2892\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told the Associated Press<\/a>. \u201dIf you look at where the chokepoint is, it\u2019s the United States Senate. That\u2019s the headwaters of the swamp.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dans on Monday <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PaulDansUSA\/status\/1949827040925897215\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">morning also reposted<\/a> the Associated Press\u2019 story announcing his South Carolina senate primary challenge, saying \u201cHave some news this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dans worked in the White House during President Donald Trump\u2019s first term. His bid may present a unique challenge for Graham, who \u2014 though he has already secured Trump\u2019s endorsement \u2014 has found himself at odds with the president on several occasions. In 2024, after Graham urged Trump to focus more on policy during his reelection campaign, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/08\/25\/politics\/video\/lindsey-graham-donald-trump-reaction-sotu-digvid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump responded<\/a> he doesn\u2019t \u201ccare what he says.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLindsey wouldn\u2019t be elected if I didn\u2019t endorse him,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>One of the leading voices on Project 2025, Dans told the AP he expects to have the support of the project\u2019s allies as well as some of Trump\u2019s supporters.<\/p>\n<p>Graham is seeking his fifth term as Republicans attempt to hold onto their 53-47 majority in the Senate during the 2026 midterms. Dans said it\u2019s \u201ctime to show him the door.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Chris LaCivita, senior adviser to Graham&#8217;s campaign, said in a statement Dans has &#8220;parachuted himself&#8221; into South Carolina after being &#8220;unceremoniously dumped in 2024 while trying to torpedo Donald Trump&#8217;s historic campaign.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Like everything Paul Dans starts, this too will end prematurely,&#8221; said LaCivita.<\/p>\n<p>Dans will officially announce his campaign at a Charleston event Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Project 2025, the 900-page set of conservative policy proposals, dominated conversations during the 2024 presidential election. Though Trump insisted the plan \u2014 created by the conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation \u2014 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/politico-nightly\/2024\/08\/16\/trumps-sprint-away-from-project-2025-00174464\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unrelated to his campaign<\/a>, many of its architects, including Dans, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/11\/21\/trump-taps-project-2025-authors-administration-00191047\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have been involved<\/a> with the Trump administration at some point or another.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/07\/28\/project-2025-paul-dans-lindsey-graham-00479799\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"feedzy-rss-link-icon\" rel=\"noopener\">Read More<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: Politics Project 2025 architect Paul Dans on Monday is launching a bid to primary Republican Sen.
