President Joe Biden said Friday that Bill Clinton is \u201cdoing fine\u201d and will be released from the hospital \u201cshortly\u201d after being admitted earlier in the week with an infection. <\/p>\n
\u201cOh, I wanted to see how he was doing. And \u2014 because I’ve been trying to get a hold of him. He’s doing fine; he really is. And he’s going to be released from the hospital,\u201d Biden said before boarding Air Force One in Windsor Locks, Conn., en route to the White House.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s not in any serious condition. He is getting out shortly, as I understand it. Whether that\u2019s tomorrow or the next day, I don\u2019t know,\u201d Biden added.<\/p>\n
The president also said it’s been a while since he’s last seen Clinton, and that he plans to get together and “have some lunch” with him at some point in the future. <\/p>\n
“He was very encouraging about why he thought the policies I was pursuing made sense, but we didn’t get into much detail, except \u2014 it was mainly just to see how he’s doing,\u201d Biden said of his phone call with the former president. The White House did not provide further details on when the call took place.<\/p>\n
Clinton, 75, was admitted to a Southern California hospital<\/a> on Tuesday with a non-Covid-related infection. In an update Friday night, Clinton spokesperson Angel Ure\u00f1a said the former president is in “excellent spirits” and will remain in the hospital while he continues to “receive treatment.” <\/p>\n “All health indicators are trending in the right direction, including his white blood count which has decreased significantly,” Ure\u00f1a said.<\/a> “In order to receive further IV antibiotics, he will remain in the hospital overnight.” <\/p>\n Clinton was also “administered IV antibiotics and fluids” on Thursday, according to a statement from his physicians. <\/p>\n \u201cAfter two days of treatment, his white blood cell count is trending down and he is responding to antibiotics well,\u201d Alpesh Amin and Lisa Bardack said in a statement Thursday. \u201cThe California-based medical team has been in constant communication with the President\u2019s New York-based medical team, including his cardiologist. We hope to have him go home soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
