Congressional investigators say former President Donald Trump had \u201cmultiple phone calls\u201d on Jan. 6, 2021 with an attorney who represented Texas in its lawsuit to overturn the election.<\/p>\n
The revelation that Trump had spoken repeatedly with Kurt Olsen<\/a> amid his last-ditch push to overturn the election was included in a new round of subpoenas by the Jan. 6 select committee. The latest batch targeted a grab-bag of prominent Trump allies amid his quest to subvert the 2020 presidential election, as well as some of the more minor players who facilitated key events along the way.<\/p>\n The subpoenas also target Cleta Mitchell<\/a>, a prominent GOP attorney who joined Trump on a call with Georgia officials in early January 2021. Mitchell is already suing to block a select committee subpoena for her phone records.<\/p>\n The list also includes two targets previously identified by POLITICO<\/a>: Christina Bobb, <\/a>a One America News Network anchor, and Katherine Friess<\/a>, a member of Trump\u2019s post-election legal team. Both appear to have played a role in either drafting or circulating a proposed executive order seizing voting machines.<\/p>\n Others included on the new list are Kenneth Chesebro<\/a>, a Boston-based attorney who The New York Times reported had drafted a legal argument<\/a> supporting the appointment of pro-Trump electors in states that Biden won; and Phillip Kline<\/a>, who the panel says organized a phone meeting between Trump allies and 300 state legislators on Jan. 2, 2021.<\/p>\n All of the witnesses are instructed to turn over documents by March 15 and appear for a deposition during the last two weeks of March.<\/p>\n
