Former Vice President Mike Pence had a pacemaker implanted on Wednesday, his office announced in a release Thursday. <\/p>\n
After being named to Donald Trump\u2019s ticket in 2016, Pence disclosed that he had been diagnosed with an asymptomatic left bundle branch block, he said. In the past two weeks, Pence\u2019s office said he had begun to have symptoms related to a \u201cslow heart rate.\u201d <\/p>\n
Pence then had the pacemaker inserted in a successful \u201croutine surgery\u201d at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Va., his office said in the statement. Pence is \u201cexpected to fully recover and return to normal activity in the coming days,” the statement said. <\/p>\n
\u201cI am grateful for the swift professionalism and care of the outstanding doctors, nurses and staff at Inova Heart and Vascular Institute, including Dr. Brett Atwater and Dr. Behnam Tehrani,\u201d Pence said in the statement. \u201cI also appreciate the consultation of my longtime Indiana physicians, Dr. Michael Busk and Dr. Charles Taliercio at Ascension St. Vincent.
