The parent company of Parler, the social media platform popular with conservatives, has agreed to terminate its intent to sell the site to rapper Ye \u2014 better known as Kanye West \u2014 according to a statement from Parlement Technologies on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\u201cParler will continue to pursue future opportunities for growth and the evolution of the platform for our vibrant community,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n
Though Parler said it cut ties with Ye in mid-November, the statement came hours after he unleashed a flurry of antisemitic comments lauding Nazis and saying he sees \u201cgood things\u201d about Adolf Hitler.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler,\u201d Ye said during an interview with the far-right provocateur Alex Jones.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t like the word \u2018evil\u2019 next to Nazis,\u201d he added later. \u201cI love Jewish people, but I also love Nazis.\u201d<\/p>\n
Response from some Republican lawmakers<\/a> was swift, after many dragged their feet in condemning former President Donald Trump\u2019s decision<\/a> to dine with Ye and white nationalist Nick Fuentes over the weekend.<\/p>\n Ye\u2019s bid to buy the platform has been marked by stumbles, including accidentally revealing contact information<\/a> for hundreds of so-called \u201cVIP\u201d members.<\/p>\n The platform has sought to court commentators from the right and position itself as a site for free speech, but it has struggled to maintain a large base of active users.<\/p>\n Rebecca Kern contributed to this report.\u00a0<\/p>\n
