In American politics, there is a small group of leaders who are \u2014 to borrow a term from Hollywood \u2014 hit makers. Everything they touch seems to turn to gold.<\/p>\n
There is perhaps no better example of this in Democratic politics than Rahm Emanuel. For those who need a refresher, Rahm is a former Bill Clinton advisor, turned Illinois Congressman, turned DCCC chair, turned Barack Obama chief of staff, turned mayor of Chicago\u2026 and currently, he is Joe Biden\u2019s ambassador to Japan.<\/p>\n
In his new posting, Rahm has been at the forefront of new multi-lateral agreements between the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines; he is agitating for allies to stop what he calls \u201cChinese economic coercion;\u201d and he has been a key player in a controversial effort to legalize same-sex marriage in Japan.<\/p>\n
