Nikki Haley called Monday for the U.S. to \u201ctake out\u201d any Iranian leaders who support the group that conducted a drone strike that killed three U.S. troops in Jordan.<\/p>\n
In an interview on Fox News<\/a>, the former U.N. ambassador and Republican presidential contender pushed President Joe Biden to respond more forcefully to the strike, calling on the Democratic leader to ratchet up sanctions against Iran and target missile production sites.<\/p>\n And, she said, \u201cyou have to figure out which Iranian leaders are making the decisions, and you take them out.\u201d<\/p>\n Iran has denied it was behind<\/a> the deadly drone strike.<\/p>\n Haley brushed aside concerns that could lead to a \u201cdramatic escalation\u201d in the region.<\/p>\n \u201cIran knows that they can\u2019t defeat America. They know that they don’t want to take that on. The problem is they smell blood in the water. They\u2019ve smelled weakness from Biden since Afghanistan to Ukraine,\u201d said Haley, a military spouse whose husband is deployed in Africa. \u201cUntil you take their money away, you are continuing to pay for them to injure and kill American soldiers. That\u2019s the part that Biden needs to understand.\u201d<\/p>\n Haley\u2019s campaign posted a portion of the interview on X<\/a>, formerly Twitter, with the message: \u201cJoe Biden has been appeasing Iran for too long. Dictators and thugs only respond to strength.\u201d<\/p>\n A Haley campaign spokesperson did not immediately respond to questions from POLITICO about whether she was calling to assassinate foreign leaders and whether she was directly accusing Iran of being behind the drone attack.<\/p>\n Pressure is growing on the Biden administration to respond more forcefully to the more than 160 attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq, Syria and now Jordan. Biden said on Sunday that the U.S. \u201cshall respond\u201d<\/a> to the attack that his administration has blamed on Iranian-backed militias. Iran has denied it was behind<\/a> the deadly drone strike.<\/p>\n
